Dr. REVA JOSHEE — Reva Joshee is an assistant professor in the Department of Theory and Policy Studies in Education, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Her research and teaching focus on the relationship between theory, policy, and practice in diversity education. She is currently involved in two major research initiatives: one focussing on the use of participatory policy analysis in the development of social justice policy in Canada and the other comparing diversity in education in India, Kenya, and Canada. She has been an active volunteer working with ethnocultural and women's organizations in Alberta and Vancouver. She was a past member of the Alberta Advisory Council on Women's Issues and a Lay Bencher of the Law Society of B.C.

Dr. STEVEN AUNG — Dr Aung is the founding president of the International Buddhist Friends Association and the World Natural Medicine Foundation. He is clinical associate professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta and at New York University College of Dentistry. He holds visiting professor appointments at several academic institutions around the world. He practices integrative, compassionate medicine and is the author of several relevant books and academic articles.

Dr. TERRY CARSON — Terry Carson is Professor and Chair of the Department of Secondary Education, University of Alberta. He has been active in international curriculum studies with the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction, editing the proceedings from the Hiroshima Conference in 1986. He is also co-author (with David C. Smith) of Educating for a Peaceful Future (Toronto: Kagan and Woo, 1998) and co-editor (with Dennis Sumara) of Action Research as a Living Practice (NY: Peter Lang, 1997). His current work includes curriculum and teacher development projects in South Africa and Korea. Terry has been involved with the Gandhi Foundation since 1989. He has been a member of the Board of Directors and presently serves on the Advisory Council.

Dr. D. JEAN CLANDININ — Dr. D. Jean Clandinin is a professor of teacher education and curriculum studies at the University of Alberta. She directs the Centre for Research for Teacher Education and Development. Through her work with teachers, principals, children and families she is committed to developing more collaborative forms of research that honors the voices of all participants.

Mr. SATYA DAS — Mr. Das is a founder and principal of Cambridge Strategies Inc., a Canadian consultancy offering advice and judgment to public officials and leaders in the public and private sectors. With more than 25 years of journalistic experience, he has served as a columnist, foreign affairs writer, editorial writer and member of the Editorial Board. He is an opinion leader; a pioneer in defining and advocating Canadian values; an analyst of political, economic, social and cultural issues; and a professional communicator with a wealth of national and international contacts. His work at Cambridge Strategies Inc. includes advising the federal government on engaging Western alienation, the federal and provincial governments on economic development strategies, and trade policy. Volunteer commitments include the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights and the NeWest Press. He has been the wine columnist of The Edmonton Journal and still writes about food and wine.

Mr. JIM EDWARDS — Honorary Jim Edwards, a native Edmontonian, has long been a friend of India, interested in Gandhian thought and practice. A former broadcasting executive, Member of Parliament, and Canadian Government Minister, Mr. Edwards spent the years 1994-1997 doing business in India. From 1998-2002 he was President and CEO of Economic Development Edmonton. He is active in the Greater Edmonton community as a businessman and community leader.

Mr. KRISHAN JOSHEE — Krishan C. Joshee is currently Chair of the Wild Rose Foundation; a public foundation dedicated to supporting the efforts of volunteer-based groups in Alberta. Since his arrival in Canada in 1960, he has been an exceptional volunteer in the Alberta community. He has been a founding member of some outstanding community organizations including the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association, The Mahatma Gandhi Foundation for World Peace, The Hindu Society of Alberta, and the Edmonton Immigrant Services Association. Among other current involvements he is a Member of the Board of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation and the Chair of the Advisory Council for the Mahatma Gandhi Foundation for World Peace. The City of Edmonton, the Province of Alberta, and the Government of Canada have recognized him with their highest awards for service to the community. In 1987 he became the first Canadian of Indian origin to receive the Order of Canada, Canada's highest civilian honour.

Mr. DOUGLAS ROCHE — A distinguished author, parliamentarian and diplomat, Douglas Roche is an internationally recognized expert on nuclear disarmament and arms control issues. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Alberta and in 1995 was named Chairman of the Canadian Committee for the Fiftieth Anniversary of the United Nations. In addition to lecturing, he is also President of Global Security Consultants, which specializes in monitoring global security trends, Chairman of Canadian Pugwash, and, Former Special Advisor to the Holy See's delegation to the U.N. General Assembly.

In 1992, Mr. Roche was named an Officer of the Order of Canada. And in 1998, His Holiness, Pope John Paul II named him a Knight Commander of the Order of St. Gregory the Great.

Dr. TOH SWEE-HIN — Dr. Toh Swee-Hin (S.H.Toh) is a professor in Global and Intercultural Education in the Dept. of Educational Policy Studies, Faculty of Education, University of Alberta. He has been active in the development of peace and global education in both North and South contexts, notably in the Philippines, Australia, Canada and South Africa. He has participated as a resource person in the ATA Global Education Project, the Alberta youth conferences of the Mahatma Gandhi Foundation for World Peace, and UNESCO's Culture of Peace program. In 2000, he was awarded the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education.
